1833, First Edition. London : Jones and Co., Temple of the Muses, (late Lackington's). Good copies both in the original half black leather over brown marble boards, with red leather labels and gilt-tooling to spine. Boards somewhat scuffed and heavily worn at the edges; spine somewhat rubbed and with minor loss at the foot of volume 1. Some preliminary and final blanks (between free endpapers and text) coming loose, with core text block notably tight throughout. Substantial marginal damp-staining to frontispiece volume 2, with plate unaffected. Text otherwise faintly foxed only, chiefly to the margins. Despite clear signs of use, the set remains well-preserved overall. Item #455928
